Happy Birthday Jesus

(Disclaimer-We were not going for any beautiful cake awards and my tool is broken!)

We were trying to think of a way to celebrate Christmas together as a family. Other moms had mentioned they had a "Happy Birthday Jesus" party. Madelyn often pretends someone in our family is having a "Happy Birthday" and gets very excited about the birthday parties she has been invited to. So we gave it a try to help her understand that we are celebrating baby Jesus's birth. She was quite concerned that this "Jesus" fellow was going to take all of her presents under the tree. It took a bit of explaining to convince her that she got to open and keep her presents because those gifts remind us of the gifts the magi brought Jesus and the greatest gift given to us through Christ. Then I simplified and just said Jesus is extra special and likes to share his presents with us. Somehow this appeased her and she was okay then with Jesus having a birthday party at her house.

Madelyn thought this looked like a frosting bottle.
Why not...It's Christmas :)

She loves music and has jammed away on her new piano.Callie can't resist the beat and tried to turn the piano into a percussion set.

We distracted her with a doll.

Cute piano - never saw one like that. Looks like fun. I'm thinking mine will get some use over the weekend!

Cute idea. Love that Maddy was concerned that Jesus was going to steal her presents!
