JOY #1: New language development. She has been a bit delayed, but her new vocabulary and use of language is fun. She is still a one syllable girl, but we are making progress.
New additions:
- Mow-Lawnmower (Which we hear constantly with this weather!)
- tick-stick mess-mess
- mu-mud "Oh no"
- ju-juice mote-remote
- car T- TV
- tuck-truck
- pai-paint
- Her favorites- shoes, no, baby, ball, nack (snack), oh, toes.
Yesterday here is one of the conversations we had as she was sitting on my lap.
"Maddy, did you toot? (as I felt it rumble on my lap)
"No." (Shaking her head with a grin) She pointed to me!
"Maddy are you sure you didn't toot?
"No. Mom." (giggle, giggle).
"You think Mommy tooted?"
"Yeah." (nodding emphatically and giggling as she pointed to my rear end)
JOY #2: Joy in the little things (such as getting a fruit snack)
- I love the joy and enthusiasm she demonstrates as she explores the world around her. The look of pride is priceless when she discovers a new use for a toy, teases, explores the outdoors, or gets to do something she enjoys.
- Example: She was watching the squirrels play around the tree. Maddy excitedly took my hand and brought me to the tree. She went around to the other side of the tree, chattered at me like a squirrel and pretended to climb the tree. She then came around the tree again and pointed up excitedly.
- Example: I laugh every time she gets to go outside, because she takes off like an animal let out of a cage. As soon as she is out the door she takes off in a sprint straight down the driveway. Madelyn stops 2/3 the way down, then turns, grins, and runs back to the house. It is fun to watch her run like a little girl instead of a toddler!
- Example of her personality: As she was running down the driveway yesterday, she tripped and fell because her shoe had come off. Instead of crying about the wipe out, she turned and grabbed her shoe, scolded it and threw it. We put on different shoes. :)
