Costa Rica-Part 1

Costa Rica is a beautiful country, with sudden changes from arid forest, rain forest, cloud forests, sandy beaches, mountains, volcanoes, and a diversity of wildlife. Wild impatiens lined the road ways as we traveled the country visiting many of these diverse ecosystems during our trip at the beginning of January.
Our trip had several purposes. 1- To attend and celebrate the wedding of our good friends Paul and Adriana. 2-Celebrate our ten years of marriage 3-Relax and refresh after a busy summer and fall.
We started our trip in San Jose, where Adriana lives. San Jose is the capital of Costa Rica and is a typical big city. Busy traffic, people everywhere, homeless people living next to prosperous ones, beautiful parks, small and large business, etc. We were struck at how many Mc Donalds', KFC, Popeye's, Pizza Huts, Denny's made their homes in San Jose. We even came across an Outback Steak house and Walmart. English is understood in most businesses, especially if it is a tourist area.

We drove up into the mountains to look down at San Jose, sprawling through the valleys.

We spent 4 days at a resort in Tamarindo, with this as our view from our patio.
