In early August, we were able to celebrate my parent's 40th wedding anniversary at a house on Lake Michigan. My siblings and their families were all about to spend 3 days together enjoying the sun and the surf. Although it was generally cooler than we'd like at the beach, we took advantage of moments of sun.
The kids enjoyed dragging Grandpa out into the lake and didn't mind being numb.
My mom made each of the kids a hooded towel for the beach. Callie didn't last long in the water and preferred the warm snuggle of her towel.

We had our own dune that separated the house from the water which helped us work off all the food we consumed together.
If we weren't on the beach, we enjoyed walking on the board walk and watching the boats go through the channel to the lake.
