First Snow

The day before Thanksgiving brought our first winter snow.
It started falling slowly in big fluffy flakes,
quickly picking up pace and blanketing the place.
Ice crystals sparkled in the crisp air
Let's get on the road. No time to spare.
It was up to Michigan to see Karen's folks
Slushy roads made for many slow pokes.

Thanksgiving Day with Grandma was a treat
As usual there was still too much to eat.
On Fridy the boys framed Brian's basement,
while I increased our credit card statement.
Saturday we celebrated Christ's birth
while we look forward to his return to earth
Christmas tree lights, music, and gift giving
are some things that remind us why we are living.
We thank God for the gift of his child
and pray for a winter oh so mild.
