Ames Update

Since the title of this blog is "Ames Update" I suppose we should do a little updating. In February Jason came back from Argentina with an itch to try something different in terms of his career. After some investigating and much prayer, Jason decided to interview at Michigan State and at Pioneer. There are positives (research, extension) and negatives (teaching, finding grant dollars) about staying in the university setting. There are also positives (cutting edge science, already funded) and negatives (he hasn't mentioned many...) about going to industry. Both new jobs would involve a move away from Ames.
After July 1 Jason will have completed all of the necessary interviews with Pioneer to secure a job in Macomb, Illinois. After interviewing at Michigan State it became clear to him that his passion was research and he could dedicated the most time and energy to research at Pioneer. He is excited about the science they are doing and the role he would have in making big changes to the current program in Macomb.
We are not certain yet when we will move, but it appears as if a move is in our future. Macomb, Illinois is not our ideal town to re-locate to, but we have peace that God is leading us there and will provide all we need.
We ask for prayers as we decide when to sell the house, purchase a new home and make the final move. We are sad to leave our friends in Ames, but the time is right for Jason to make the change.

We'll be praying for you guys during this time of change. Let me know if you need some help with anything including keeping Maddy for a couple of days if that would help you out. :)
