Harvest and Baby Kate

Jason took last Friday off work so that we could enjoy beautiful weather on the farm. Harvest was in full swing and corn was coming out of the fields quickly. Madelyn wasn't so sure about the combine first, but after a few passes with all 4 of us, she was ready to be on her own with Jason. She rode for several hours on Friday and Saturday. Callie opted for a nap instead.

Madelyn also discovered the 4-wheeler and enjoyed riding with whomever would take her.
I volunteered to give rides to the other cousins as well. Fun times on such a beautiful day!
I did not get a picture of Madelyn with Grandma's cats, but Madelyn had to be peeled away from those cats. She tried to get them to eat out of her hand, just like the horses would eat apples from her hand. As much as she enjoyed the cats at Grandma's house, I don't foresee acquiring any felines at our house.
Jason and Kurtis running together-a rare occurrence
My sister and her family also came out to the farm. Jax, Jason and Andy in the combine
Callie discovered steps and it didn't take long for her to climb them efficiently. We don't have any steps in our house, so this was a fun new adventure for her. Having a long torso, short legs, and long reach makes her a dangerous climbing machine :)
Another joy of the weekend was meeting our new niece Kate Joelle. Another sweet baby girl was added to Kurtis and Lisa's family. Kurtis and the ladies were trying to keep baby Kate awake :)

Madelyn had waited all day to hold Baby Kate.
