During Tulip Time weekend, we also celebrated the retirement of our former band director and my uncle. As part of the retirement festivities, the family had invited all band alumni to join in the concert. After an afternoon of rehearsal about 60 alumni joined the current band to perform about 8 numbers. I thoroughly enjoyed playing my trumpet again, trying to site read, and being part of a large group that really sounded great, thanks to the current high school performers! It was fun to play with several of my family members as well. My brother Brian, his wife Amy, my sister-in-law Lisa, and brother-in-law Mark all played. Jason couldn't be convinced to pull out his trombone and used the need to plant corn (they got rained out) as an excuse.

| Mr. Zwiers had a wonderful way with words and knew how to make us laugh, yet expected perfection. He was professional and personable and loved by his students! |

My Uncle Lee was one of Jason and my high school math teachers. We were thankful that my aunt Marge was able to join the festivities as she is fighting cancer and had her chemo treatment just a few days prior to this picture. She looked great. They have both been a blessing to the school and our family!
